Deep Sea Seals

Wartsila Deep Sea Seals, also Manecraft or John Crane, is a propeller shaft sealing system as an alternative to a stuffing box and comprises of two components. A stationary SEAT that fits onto the inner end or the stern tube and the rotating SEAL that attaches to the propeller shaft. The rotating seal runs against the stationary seat to give a watertight “drip free” seal. Both are moulded from tough, oil resistant chloroprene.
